Beyond the Pines

Beyond the Pines

6/21

End of June, solstice of summer.

To the depths of my core, I feel pure gratitude that this is my life now. Even though the hurt distracts sometimes from seeing what is here, it does not take away.

Chasing sunsets melding into frothy deep ocean. Twilight floats under new stars. Hana highway playlists in loyal, rusty Maui cruiser. Jungle recipes from the earth. Smoothing the slate clean for rebirth in purged, scarred dirt. Jutting, magnificent volcanic cliffsides, black and hard and steep, contrasting against turquoise pools in campsite backdrops.

It all stems back to her. My heart is full. There is pain but there is still love, too.
